Loval was a planet in the Loval planetary system, located in Cardassian space. It was the location of a Cardassian civilian outpost with a small subspace relay station.
What was not commonly known is that Loval was also the site of a secret weapons research facility. That made it the target of a Klingon Bird-of-Prey commanded by K'Temang in 2372. Gul Dukat, aboard the freighter Groumall, anticipated K'Temang's intentions and set a trap for him in Loval's orbit. (DS9: "Return to Grace")
According to the Star Trek: Star Charts (pg. 46), the Loval system was located in or near Cardassian space, in the Alpha Quadrant. This system was a single star system. Primary was a Class F star with a magnitude of +7, which was 1/10 as bright as Sol.
