In 2375, Lorkin was discretely sabotaging equipment in an overall effort for the Syndicate to pressure the Tigan's company to do more business with it. Though not suspected of sabotage, he was blamed for not maintaining the waveguides of the mine when one malfunctioned and began to cost the Trill family a thousand bars of latinum a day. Yanas Tigan told her son Janel to pay Lorkin and then fire him.
Thadial Bokar, another Syndicate operative, later visited Janel to press him on Lorkin's firing. Seeing the problems with the transtator of the trans-sonic drill, he claimed it would not have happened if Lorkin had not been dismissed. Bokar also hoped Yanas would change her mind about him.
