Loren Janes (1 October 193124 June 2017; age 85) was a stuntman, stunt actor, and stunt coordinator who performed stunts in two episodes of Star Trek: The Original Series. He was William Shatner's stunt double in the first season episode "Charlie X" and Richard Tatro's stunt double in the second season episode "I, Mudd".

He filmed his scene for "I, Mudd" on Friday 11 August 1967 at Desilu Stage 9.

He also served as stuntman on several television Westerns, including Gunsmoke, Have Gun – Will Travel, and The Rifleman, as well Barnaby Jones and The Streets of New York, Little House on the Prairie, and the 1985 mini-series North and South.

His extensive credits also includes such epic feature films as The Ten Commandments (1956, featuring Dame Judith Anderson, Lawrence Dobkin, Michael Ansara, Bobby Clark, Arthur Batanides, Robert Herron, Harry Landers, Serena Sande, and Carl Saxe), Spartacus (1960, featuring Jean Simmons, Peter Brocco, John Hoyt, Seamon Glass, Paul Lambert, Arthur Batanides, Paul Baxley, William Blackburn, Bill Catching, Tony Dante, Bob Hoy, Anthony Jochim, Pete Kellett, Hubie Kerns, Sr., Carey Loftin, Gil Perkins, Jack Perkins, Vic Perrin, and Tom Steele), Robert Wise's The Sand Pebbles (1966), and The Poseidon Adventure (1972, featuring John Crawford, Phil Adams, Bill Catching, Dick Durock, Monty O'Grady, Victor Paul, Frieda Rentie, Elizabeth Rogers, David Sharpe, George Sawaya, Paul Stader, and Tom Steele), Planet of the Apes (1968), Logan's Run (1976), Escape from New York (1981), and Back to the Future (1985).

Janes passed away on 24 June 2017 at the age of 85. [1]
