Logistics officer or logistics clerk was a military officer who was responsible for maintaining and overseeing the logistics of a fleet.
Romulan Sublieutenant Setal initially described himself as "a low ranking logistics officer" upon his defection aboard the USS Enterprise-D in 2366.
When Setal revealed knowledge of "the incident at Galorndon Core" with the Enterprise-D earlier that year, Enterprise-D security chief Worf sneered, "you are aware of a great deal for a logistics clerk." Setal explained that it was common knowledge, before offering to show his rating code, a statement that reminded Worf, "forged credentials are a simple matter for a spy."
Later, when William T. Riker interrogated Setal about "the location and strength of the Romulan fleet", he denied knowledge of it, something which Riker doubted, giving Setal's position as his reason. Setal explained that he was only the logistics officer for "one sector only". Although Riker was able to ascertain that Setal's superior officer was Admiral Alidar Jarok – who was in fact the person in question Riker was speaking to, using the alias Setal – Riker pressed on with questions knowledgeable to a logistics officer. Riker inquired about "the location of the Romulan bases along the Neutral Zone," which Setal still did not claim to know. When Riker directed the questions to something Setal might know, such as information pertaining to his sector, like "number of troops under your admiral's command?" Setal claimed it was all irrelevant to why he was there. (TNG: "The Defector")
