Lisa Vidal (born 13 June 1965; age 58) is an American actress of Puerto Rican descent who played a barracks officer in 2009's Star Trek. She was born in New York City, the eldest of three daughters of Puerto Rican immigrants. She graduated from the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in Manhattan, New York, and worked with the La Familia Theater Company.

Television work

Vidal is perhaps best known for her recurring roles on two NBC television series, Third Watch (1999-2001) and ER (2001-2004). On the former, she portrayed Dr. Sara Morales; on the latter, she was EMT Sandy Lopez. Among the performers she worked with on ER were Sam Anderson, Karen Austin, Michelle C. Bonilla, Jude Ciccolella, Julie Cobb, Scott Klace, Michelle Krusiec, Kay E. Kuter, Ed Lauter, Jordan Lund, Robert Mandan, Lily Mariye, Tzi Ma, Geoff Meed, Cyril O'Reilly, Armin Shimerman, Tom Wright, Jamison Yang, and Dell Yount.

In addition, Vidal had starring roles on the TV dramas High Incident (1996-97) and The Division (2001-04). She also had recurring roles on New York Undercover, The Brian Benben Show (which featured Charles Esten), and Smith (which starred Virginia Madsen). In 2006, Vidal had a two-episode arc on the drama series Boston Legal, which starred William Shatner and Rene Auberjonois. Her episodes of Boston Legal also featured Joanna Cassidy, Scott MacDonald, and Mark L. Taylor.

Vidal's early credits as a TV guest star include episodes of The Cosby Show, Miami Vice, and Law & Order (with Paul Sorvino). She later appeared on such shows as Numb3rs (with Matt Malloy), Without a Trace (with Enrique Murciano and Scott MacDonald), and CSI: Miami (with Scott Klace). She currently appears on the NBC police drama Southland.

Film work

Vidal made her film debut in the 1985 comedy Delivery Boys. Her next major film role came in Irwin Winkler's 1992 crime drama Night and the City. She later had a role in Woody Allen's Mighty Aphrodite, which starred F. Murray Abraham, David Ogden Stiers, and Peter Weller.

Star Trek is the second film which featured both Vidal and actor Clifton Collins, Jr. They previously worked together on the 1998 fantasy comedy The Wonderful Ice Cream Suit. Gregory Sierra also had a role in that film. Vidal later worked with Fred Williamson in the 2000 direct-to-video action film Active Stealth and the 2007 musical comedy I Wanna Dancer.

Vidal's other film credits include Chasing Papi (2003) and Dark Mirror (2007). In the latter, she worked alongside Tucker Smallwood.
