Leo was a constellation from the point of view of Earth, named after its shape of a lion.

The constellation Leo includes the stars Regulus (the primary of the Alpha Leonis system), Denebola, Omega Leonis (located in the Omega Leonis sector block), and Wolf 359 (the primary of the Wolf system), the site of Starfleet's disastrous battle against the Borg in 2367. (TOS: "Where No Man Has Gone Before"; TNG: "The Vengeance Factor", "The Best of Both Worlds, Part II"; Star Trek Into Darkness display graphic)

In 2063, Lily Sloane pointed to an incoming Borg directed-energy weapon fire and asked Zefram Cochrane what it was, but he thought she was pointing to the constellation Leo. (Star Trek: First Contact)

The similarity between the sounding of Denebola and Denobula should be noted.
Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry was born in the zodiac sign Leo.
