Lasaran was a Cardassian undercover operative working for the Federation on Soukara. The Dominion became suspicious of him and he believed it was only a matter of time before he was exposed. Commanders Worf and Jadzia Dax were sent to rescue him but after Dax was injured Worf did not proceed with the rescue plan. Lasaran was killed trying to reenter a base on Soukara.
Unfortunately, Lasaran died with information on how many Founders there were in the quadrant, where they were and what they were doing. DS9: ("Change of Heart")
