La-La Land Records

La-La Land Records is a record company based in Burbank, California. The company specializes in film and television soundtracks, with a particular emphasis on cult, rare, and expanded score releases. The company has released soundtracks for, among others, Farscape, the revived Battlestar Galactica, Heroes, and expanded scores for films including Independence Day, the 1989 Batman movie, and Mars Attacks!.

In 2010, they released their first Star Trek-related soundtrack, an expanded edition of the Star Trek V soundtrack. In May 2012, the company announced an expanded edition of the soundtrack of Star Trek: The Motion Picture, which was released the following month as the Star Trek: The Motion Picture (expanded soundtrack). The project earned the production staff a 2012 IFMCA Award.

A three-CD collection of Star Trek: The Next Generation scores was released in July 2011, entitled Star Trek: The Next Generation Collection, Volume One. The company released a second three-disc collection, Star Trek: The Next Generation Collection, Volume Two, in 2016. Both of these collections, as well as all subsequent 3- and 4-disc volumes, were released in limited edition runs of 3,000 copies.[1]

In December 2012, La-La Land released the scores from all Star Trek: The Original Series episodes in a 15-disc boxed set entitled Star Trek: The Original Series Soundtrack Collection. It was produced in a limited run of 6,000 copies and features a 100-page booklet written by Jeff Bond.

On 30 June 2012, La-La Land Records officially announced the four-CD Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Collection, which was released in 2013. [2] It was followed by Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Collection, Volume Two (also consisting of four discs) in 2018.

December of 2014 saw the release of La-La Land's first four-disc volume of music from Star Trek: Enterprise - Star Trek: Enterprise Collection. This was followed in 2016 with Star Trek: Enterprise Collection, Volume Two.

To celebrate Star Trek's 50th anniversary in 2016, La-La Land released the four-disc Star Trek: 50th Anniversary Collection, which featured newly discovered sources of library music from the Original Series, the score from the Animated Series, additional music from Star Trek: The Next Generation, as well as alternate cues and source music from the other Trek series.

La-La Land issued their first four-CD collection of music from Star Trek: Voyager - Star Trek: Voyager Collection - in 2017, and followed it with another four-disc volume - Star Trek: Voyager Collection, Volume Two - in 2019.

On April 1, 2022, La-La Land announced the upcoming release of Star Trek Collection: The Final Frontier. In a press release on its release date of April 5, it was revealed that this is the final release of Star Trek television music from La-La Land Records. In addition to a few cues composed - but never recorded - by Jerry Goldsmith for Star Trek: The Motion Picture, this set devotes one disc each to previously unreleased cues from The Next Generation (disc 1), Deep Space Nine (disc 2), Voyager (disc 3), and Enterprise (disc 4).
