When Commander William T. Riker requested permission to examine the surplus depot to see if any ships were missing, Dokachin became indignant. He corrected Riker on the pronunciation of his surname, and was reluctant to surrender what little authority he had, but agreed to cooperate when Deanna Troi charmed him and told Troi about a fourteen-foot-long Caldorian eel he once found and still owned as a pet.
He took liberties while on board the Enterprise, giving the helmsman orders, for example. When it was discovered that ships were missing, Dokachin was shocked; in the entire history of the Zakdorn administration of the yard, nothing had ever been lost. (TNG: "Unification I")
