Klaang

Klaang standing in a corn field in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, on Earth in 2151

Klaang was a Klingon courier in the service of the Klingon High Council during the 22nd century.

Around 2151, the Suliban Cabal was manipulating the Klingon Empire. In early 2151 Klaang visited Rigel X where he had met Sarin, a Suliban and a former member of the Cabal who implanted in his DNA information about the Cabal's plans. However he was pursued by Suliban agents.

In April of 2151, he crash-landed his Template:ShipClass scoutship on Earth while attempting to escape the Suliban. He landed in a corn field in Broken Bow, Oklahoma where he managed to kill the Suliban, but was subsequently injured when shot by a Human farmer named Moore. Klaang was taken to Starfleet Medical, where his life was sustained by the efforts of Doctor Phlox. The Vulcans recommended taking him off life-support so he could die an honorable death as mandated by Klingon culture, but instead Jonathan Archer and Enterprise returned him to Qo'noS alive.

On the way to Qo'noS, the unconscious Klaang was kidnapped by Suliban agents from the starship's sickbay. He was rescued from the Suliban helix by Enterprise and taken before the Klingon High Council on Qo'noS, who then read the information in Klaang's DNA. (ENT: "Broken Bow")

Later that year, Subcommander T'Pol reminded Captain Vorok that Archer had visited the Klingon High Council Chamber. The fact that the Human captain had returned Klaang meant that Vorok's House was no longer feuding with another Klingon House. (ENT: "Unexpected")

Captain Archer regretted his decision to launch Enterprise before all systems were included in the ship, especially the weapons. Commander Tucker reminded him that if he hadn't launched Enterprise, Klaang would have been sent back to Qo'noS in a box. (ENT: "Silent Enemy")

Klaang was played by actor Tommy "Tiny" Lister, Jr., his running double John Duff, and his stunt double Jeff Sanders. Gregory Hinton served as stand-in for them.
