Kira Taban holding son Reon
Kira Taban (played by Thomas Kopache) was the husband of Kira Meru and the father of Kira Nerys, Kira Pohl and Kira Reon. Kira Taban was a farmer by trade, and was especially proud of his garden.
He was killed by members of the Cardassian Heavy Weapons Unit, Third Assault Group, Ninth Order while attempting to persuade them from torching his home and village.
Gravely wounded by a disruptor shot to his abdomen, he survived long enough for Kira Nerys and the Shakaar Resistance Cell to find him. However, after several days of extreme pain, he finally succumbed to his injuries.
Kira Nerys was not present when he died, as she was out launching an ambush against her father's attackers at the time. He died calling out her name; this fact would still haunt Nerys years later.
