According to the Internet Movie Database, Kowalczyk will be playing Alnschloss K'Bentayr, the alien security chief of the USS Kelvin. This has not yet been confirmed.

Born as Katarzyna Kowalczyk in Gdansk, Poland, she traveled with her parents through Tasmania until they settled down in Atlanta, Georgia. She attended the Atlanta College of Art and pursued a career as photographer, but left photography to become a filmmaker, a realization of her dream to tell stories visually. Kowalczyk has been married to actor and filmmaker Tal Harris since 2003. With Harris, she founded and has owned the production company "Tal Kasia Productions" since 2002.

Their production company produced and realized the stage play Dr. Faustus in 2002, the short fantasy film Replacing Delphine in 2003, and the short film The Bread Squeezer in 2006, which won an award as best short film at the Rome International Film Festival. Kowalczyk served in multiple roles on this productions, including director, writer, editor, art director, and costume designer.

Other productions Kowalczyk has been involved in include the short film Prayers From Pelham (2005), where she played the role of Yeti, the short drama Swimming to the Moon (2007), for which she lent her voice, and more recently the horror thriller One Missed Call (2008, with Ray Wise), in which she appeared in a background role, the Nanny Ghost. Kowalczyk has also worked as an art department intern for the drama Death in Love (2008), and will work as a wardrobe production assistant for the drama Brooklyn's Finest (2009).

Kowalczyk is a also professional film mime, citing Doug Jones as an influence.
