Kareel Odan, shortly after joining in 2367.
Kareel Odan is a joined Trill and the current host of the Odan symbiont. Kareel became host to Odan in 2367 after the previous host was killed during negotiations on Peliar Zel.
After being joined with Kareel, Odan attempted to renew the relationship of its previous host with Dr. Beverly Crusher despite the Trill taboo against Reassociation. The radical change in appearance and gender was too much for Crusher and she decided that she could not continue the relationship. (TNG: "The Host")
- It may be speculated that the relatively recent and short nature of the romance between Odan and Crusher made it an exception to the taboo of reassocation. However it is more likely that it is due to the fact that the idea of reassociation, and Trill society in general, was not truly developed until the Deep Space 9 episode "Rejoined".
