Kal Dano was a scientist from the 27th century who invented the Tox Uthat, a quantum phase inhibitor that could halt all nuclear fusion within a star.

When two Vorgon criminals, Ajur and Boratus, attempted to steal the Uthat, Dano traveled back in time to the 22nd century and hid it on the planet Risa, where it would remain undiscovered until the year 2366. (TNG: "Captain's Holiday")

In the Star Trek Online episode "Stormbound", it is revealed that Kal Dano was the pilot of the time travel pod found by the crew of the Enterprise NX-01 in "Future Tense". After Kal Dano hid the Tox Uthat on Risa, he was attacked by Tholians in 2410 who wanted to claim the device. During the battle, his temporal drive was damaged and send his ship back in time to an unknown date.
