Jophery C. Brown (22 January 194511 January 2014; age 68) was a stuntman and stunt actor who was the stunt double for Anthony Holiday in the Star Trek: Voyager seventh season episode "Shattered". He received no credit for his work and was identified by the name tag of his costume which was sold off on the It's A Wrap! sale and auction on eBay. [1]

Brown was born in Grambling, Louisiana. He played baseball for the Chicago Cubs and pitched two innings in 1968. He served as stunt double for stars such as Morgan Freeman, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Denzel Washington, James Earl Jones, Bill Cosby, and Sidney Poitier.

Brown is probably best remembered for his performance as Jophery, the ill-fated construction worker in early scenes of Jurassic Park (1993, with Cameron Thor, Cynthia Madvig, Richard Kiley, and stunts by Patricia Tallman and Gary Epper) and for his car stunt work in Speed (1994, with Alan Ruck, Richard Lineback, Carlos Carrasco, Jordan Lund, Patrick Fischler, Bruce Wright, Robin McKee, and stunts by Janet Brady, Tom Huff, Patricia Tallman, John Cade, Chuck Hicks, and Jimmy Ortega) and in Bad Boys II (2003). For the latter one he received a Taurus World Stunt Award in the category Best Work with a Vehicle in 2004. In 2010, Brown received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Taurus World Stunt Awards.

Among his stunt resume are films such as Coffy (1973, with Booker Bradshaw, Robert DoQui, Bob Minor, and stunts by Nick Dimitri), The Blues Brothers (1980), The Sword and the Sorcerer (1982, with Anthony De Longis), Splash (1984), The Hitcher (1986, with Armin Shimerman and Tony Epper, and stunts by Janet Brady, Kenny Endoso, and Freddie Hice), Predator (1987, with Kevin Peter Hall, Richard Chaves, and stunts by Gary Baxley, Tony Brubaker, Doug Coleman, and Joel Kramer), Die Hard (1988), Tango & Cash (1989, with Teri Hatcher), Dark Angel (1990, with Matthias Hues), Hook (1991), Money Train (1995), Broken Arrow (1996, with Christian Slater), Rumpelstiltskin (1996, with Max Grodénchik), The Relic (1997, with Constance Towers and Clayton Rohner), Hard Rain (1998, with Christian Slater and Anthony Montgomery), I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998, with Jeffrey Combs), Showtime (2002, with William Shatner), and Dreamcatcher (2003) as well as the television series I Spy, Wonder Woman, The A-Team (starring Dwight Schultz and Melinda Culea), and Prison Break (2006).

Brown's later credits include stunt doubling Morgan Freeman in Wanted (2008), for which he received a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination in the category Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture in 2009, and in Oblivion (2013).

He passed away on 11 January 2014 at his home in the Newhall neighborhood of Santa Clarita, California. [2]
