Jon Daily was captain of the transport Astral Queen in 2266.

He owed Captain Kirk a dozen favors, so when Kirk asked him to strand the Karidian Company of Players, he did it without question. This forced the Karidian players to seek alternate transport, which Kirk was happy to provide – so that he could keep them close to hand while he investigated the possibility that their lead performer, Anton Karidian, was a wanted criminal. (TOS: "The Conscience of the King")

Background infoEdit

This character appeared as an off-screen voiceover.

The voiceover for Jon Daily was done by either Tom Curtis(citation needededit) , Frank Vince (Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 1, p. 158)), or John Astin.(citation needededit)

In the final revised draft script of "The Conscience of the King", Daily had an extra line of dialogue which established that, prior to Kirk's request that he not take aboard the Karidian Company of Players, Daily hadn't had contact with Kirk for a long time.

His name was spelled "John Daly" in the novelization.
