Captain Joel Randolph
Starfleet Captain Joel Randolph was the commanding officer of the starship USS Yorktown.
In 2286, Randolph reported to Starfleet Command that his ship lost power following an encounter with the "Whale Probe". The Yorktown's chief engineer had been attempting to deploy a makeshift solar sail with which to focus and absorb radiation from a nearby sun they were orbiting. (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home)
Randolph's name is from the script, he was played by Vijay Amritraj.
