Commander Joann Owosekun was a female Terran who served as a Starfleet officer in 23rd century. She was the leader of Emperor Philippa Georgiou's Honor Guard, and in 2255 she became the security chief of the newly launched ISS Charon.
She bore a medal on her uniform identifying her as a member of the bridge crew.
She was vaporized by Gabriel Lorca when he seized control of the Charon. (DIS: "What's Past Is Prologue", "Terra Firma, Part 1")
