Bennett began acting in 2002 at the age of six. Within his first year as an actor, he appeared in 27 television commercials and held guest spots on such primetime shows as Whoopi Goldberg's Strong Medicine and CBS' The Guardian (starring Raphael Sbarge, in an episode with Michael Dorn). Bennett made his film debut in the 2003 Eddie Murphy comedy Daddy Day Care, playing the boy who dresses up as the DC Comics character "The Flash."
The following year, Bennett appeared in The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things (with his Star Trek co-star Winona Ryder) and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (also featuring Holmes Osborne) and was heard as the voice of Lonely Boy in The Polar Express. He had leading roles in the 2005 films Hostage (with Marjean Holden, Tina Lifford and Glenn Morshower) and The Amityville Horror (opposite his Star Trek co-star, Rachel Nichols) and in the 2006 films Firewall (playing the son of Virginia Madsen's character) and Poseidon (starring Josh Lucas and Mike Vogel, both of whom were up for roles in 2009's Star Trek). He more recently appeared in 2007's Evan Almighty, playing one of the sons of the title character.
Bennett voiced the character of Roo in several Winnie the Pooh productions from Disney, including Pooh's Heffalump Halloween Movie and the video game Kingdom Hearts II. He also voiced Rerun van Pelt in two Peanuts specials. In addition, he has appeared on such TV shows as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (with David Andrews, Tim Kelleher and Wallace Langham), Everwood (playing the son of Stephanie Niznik's character), and Gilmore Girls.
