In 2367, Lieutenant Commander Mees was the shift supervisor for the Third Shift Antimatter Operations Unit on the USS Enterprise-D. He was listed as being on duty in the Engineering Division Duty Roster. This roster was on display via the desktop monitor in the ready room. (TNG: "Suddenly Human", okudagram)

In 2369, his proteins were tested by Doctor Beverly Crusher for a possible configuration match with the fragments of a four billion-year old genetic program. The results came back negative. He was one of seventeen individuals who were from worlds outside the Federation. (TNG: "The Chase")
