Actor Jerry Ayres (born 21 September 1936; age 79) made two appearances on Star Trek: The Original Series, as two different "redshirts", O'Herlihy in "Arena" and Rizzo in "Obsession".

Ayres would go on to become a regular on the soap operas General Hospital and The Bold and the Beautiful. He also had a recurring role in the first season of the TV series Dynasty. He appeared in seven episodes, including the pilot ("Oil") and "The Chaffeur Tells a Secret", both helmed by "Obsession" director Ralph Senensky. The former also featured Peter Mark Richman, Lee Bergere, Ellen Geer, Julie Parrish and Paul Sorensen. Senensky also directed him in "Double Jeopardy", the pilot of Dan August, which featured Ned Romero, Susan Oliver and Fritz Weaver. He appeared in the 1979 telemovie "Disaster on the Coastliner" (with William Shatner and Michael Pataki and featuring the music of Gerald Fried).
