Jeremy Raymond (born 30 October 1982; age 41) is a musician and an actor who played the lead Nibiran in J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness in 2013. Raymond's agent was contacted by Abrams and asked to send some of his headshots for a possible role in the Star Trek sequel. A short time later, Raymond flew to California for a meeting with Abrams at Bad Robot. Abrams told Raymond that he saw a movie he appeared in, The Pastor's Wife. This 2011 television drama was executive produced by Abrams' father, Gerald W. Abrams. When Raymond agreed to participate in the creative process for the new film, he flew several times to California for makeup tests and pre-production development, working with Neville Page, David LeRoy Anderson, and Jamie Kelman. A screenshot of Raymond's character was used for card #4, "Nibiru Warrior", in the virtual collectible card battle game Star Trek: Rivals.
Raymond also appeared in the sequel Star Trek Beyond, directed by Justin Lin, as a control tower technician. [2]
Personal information
Raymond was born and raised in Cranbrook, British Columbia, Canada. He started to perform in plays, musicals and improv shows while at high school. Later, he moved to Edmonton and studied music at Grant MacEwan College where he majored in Vocal Performance. The following years, Raymond contributed to several jazz and indie bands as singer and songwriter. Currently, he is recording an album of original music. [3]
Acting
Raymond worked on several student and independent projects such as the drama A Problem with Fear (2003, with Willie Garson) before he received a Gemini Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Dramatic Program or mini-series for his portrayal of Stanley Ritchie, the handicapped son of Gena Rowland's character in the television drama The Incredible Mrs. Ritchie (2004, with Leslie Hope).
Two years later, Raymond was featured in the pilot episode of the science fiction series Kyle XY (2006, with Bruce Thomas and Lynnanne Zager) and appeared as a lab tech in the television mini-series Alice (2009) where he worked with fellow Trek alumni Matt Frewer and Colm Meaney. Further projects include the short comedy Karma Inc. (2010), the comedy Guido Superstar: The Rise of Guido (2010), the short science fiction film Growing Up Julianne (2010), the aforementioned television drama The Pastor's Wife (2011), an episode of R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour (2012), the short drama The Interrogation (2012), and the horror film The ABCs of Death (2012).
More recently, Raymond had a guest role in the Level Up episode "War Hammer Time" (2013) and a featured part in the action film Metallica Through the Never (2013, with Ed Anders).
