Jennifer Edwards (born 25 March 1957; age 66) is the Los Angeles-born actress who played Kyle in the Star Trek: The Next Generation fifth season episode "New Ground". She is the daughter of Hollywood writer/director/producer Blake Edwards and actress Patricia Walker. Her brother Geoffrey Edwards was married to Trek actress Denise Crosby between 1983 and 1990. Edwards filmed her scenes for "New Ground" on Friday 11 October 1991 and on Monday 14 October 1991 on Paramount Stage 9 and Paramount Stage 16.

She is best known as the little girl who played the title role in the NBC made-for-television movie Heidi which infamously aired on November 17, 1968 and interrupted a broadcast of a regular-season professional football game between the Oakland Raiders and New York Jets. The Jets had just gone ahead, 32-29, when the telecast was stopped and the movie played. The Raiders scored two touchdowns in the final two minutes to win the game. Irate football fans had to make do with a scrolling update of the final score during the broadcast of Heidi. Since then, all nationally-televised professional football games are shown in their entirety.

Edwards appeared with Jean Simmons in Heidi and with William Shatner in the movie Go ask Alice in 1973. She was also the writer of and starred in the television movie Justin Case in 1988. One of her co-stars in that film was Richard McGonagle who was also a co-star in the Next Generation episode "New Ground". In 1986, she appeared in That's Life! with Sally Kellerman, Dana Sparks, Biff Elliot, and Robert Knepper.
