Real World article
(written from a Production point of view)

Jeanna F. Gallo was the originator of the story for the Star Trek: The Next Generation seventh season episode "Sub Rosa", for which she received a credit as "Based Upon Material by" in the end credits of the episode.

Gallo, a freelance author and fan of Star Trek from early age on was also among the fans who wrote letters to NBC upon the cancellation of the series in the 1960s. Jeri Taylor also sent Gallo the series' bible of Star Trek: Voyager and Gallo sent in a story pitch for a story about dinosaurs from Earth. Ideas of this story pitch were later used for the third season episode "Distant Origin" though Gallo received no credit due to changes in studio policies.
