James J. Corbett, known professionally as Gentleman Jim, was a famous American boxer on Earth during the 1890s.

In 1893 he had a fight in San Francisco. Jack London, then a bellboy at the Hotel Brian, put some money on Corbett winning in the fifth round by KO. (TNG: "Time's Arrow")
