Jalad of the Kituay was a mytho-historical character from Shantil III who once faced a common enemy with the hunter Darmok on the island-continent of Tanagra.
The event was incorporated into the language of the Tamarians as a metaphor for communication and understanding achieved through shared danger. (TNG: "Darmok")
