The detonation of an isolytic burst.

An isolytic burst was a type of ship-mounted subspace torpedo weapon, outlawed by the Second Khitomer Accords, utilized by the Son'a in the 24th century.

In 2375, a Son'a battle cruiser fired and detonated an isolytic burst during the Son'a's attempt to prevent the USS Enterprise from leaving the Briar Patch. The burst caused a subspace tear to form, which was attracted to the Enterprise's warp core. The tear was sealed when Commander La Forge ejected the core and detonated it, neutralizing the cascade. (Star Trek: Insurrection)

Before detonation the isolytic burst appeared to be a standard photon torpedo with a white glow.
