To teach cadets the Prime Directive of the United Federation of Planets; of non-interference with other worlds and the importance of respecting the religious beliefs and political structures of indigenous culture of their people. To strictly avoid contact with and contamination of non-warp travel societies. This involves the study of the history of past Federation and pre-Federation interstellar missions and the results of contact with other worlds. This course involves theoretical practice on handling all situations with known civilizations and future discovery of unknown civilizations. Cadets will be graded on logic, professionalism, creativity, historical knowledge and ability to function under pressure. This course greatly influenced Captain Jean-Luc Picard. (TNG: "Who Watches The Watchers", "First Contact")
