An interphasic compensator is a Starfleet engineering tool.
When a feedback loop developed in the USS Defiant's warp coils in 2372, Captain Benjamin Sisko used an interphasic compensator to shunt the excess power from the warp core to the deflector. (DS9: "The Visitor")
