Indiana is a region of the ancient Earth nation-state United States of America and contains the state capital of Indianapolis within its borders. It also is the home of the Indiana State University (TNG: "The Neutral Zone") and Indiana University (alma mater of Jeri Taylor and home to the Lilly Library's collection of scripts, including The Original Series, The Next Generation, and the first two seasons of Voyager.

In the year 2000, it was the home of the world's largest ball of string, and the World's Largest Beefsteak Tomato. By 2012, the community of Portage Creek was the home of the Millennium Gate. (VOY: "11:59")

The region also contains the city of Bloomington, birthplace of Admiral Kathryn Janeway. Janeway once remarked that her summers in Indiana had been almost as hot as those in the Rinax marshlands. (VOY: "Macrocosm")
