AT: "xx" Illinois was a region located within the interior of the North American continent of Earth. This was a state in the United States of America. The bordering states were Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, and Wisconsin. This state was in the Great Lakes region. The cities of Chicago and Springfield were located in this state. The two-letter code for this state was IL. (TNG-R: "The Neutral Zone"; ENT: "Storm Front")

In an alternate timeline in which Nazi Germany had invaded the United States, as of 1944 Illinois was controlled by American forces. (ENT: "Storm Front", "Storm Front, Part II")

In September of 2151, temporal agent Daniels claimed he and a fictional brother of his grew up in Illinois as part of his cover story. In reality, Daniels came from a place called "Illinois," which he said was very different than the Illinois of 2151. (ENT: "Cold Front")

Illinois was named on a map of the United States (Die Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika). Both Chicago and Springfield were represented by yellow circles.
