Iko.
Iko was a violent criminal who had been sentenced to death for murder.
In 2377, he was a prisoner aboard a Nygean prison ship whose crew was rescued from destruction by USS Voyager. Iko was beamed to sickbay where he took Seven of Nine hostage and demanded a ship and food. Seven broke free, and Iko grabbed the Doctor not realizing that he was a hologram. He was stunned by Tuvok who fired his phaser through the Doctor. Later he was beaten by the Nygean guards when he caused a disturbance and threaten to kill the family of Yediq, who was the leader of the guards. He received treatment from the Doctor, using Seven of Nine's nanoprobes. Not only did they cure the effects of the beating, they also cured a congenital behavioral condition, which was the cause of Iko's anti-social behavior. As a result Iko literally became a new man. He saved Yediq life during an attempted breakout by the other prisoners. One of the prisoners, Joleg, took Yediq hostage and demanded a shuttle. Joleg was going to kill him, but Iko stopped him, saying that he wanted to do it. Joleg gave Iko the phaser but he handed it to Yediq. Yediq realized that Iko had changed and set up an appeal to the family of Iko's victim for clemency. Iko spoke to the family and told them that he was willing to die for his crime, but if they let him live, he would never hurt anyone again. His appeal was turned down and he was executed a short time later. (VOY: "Repentance")
