Founded in 1907 by the inventors of the Teddy bear, the Ideal Toy Company was most successful during the 1960s and 1970s when it produced many popular toys and board games. A line of Evel Knievel action figures and toys were exceptionally popular and profitable for the company.

The Ideal brand was purchased by a succession of companies including CBS Toys, Viewmaster, and finally Tyco, and was retired in the mid-1980s. Despite this, many companies including Hasbro, Mattel, and Milton Bradley are still producing Ideal's toys and games worldwide but they are released under different brands.

Star Trek releases[]

The company also marketed Galoob's Star Trek Micro Machines line in Europe with the Ideal brand printed on them.
