IKS T'Ong

The IKS T'Ong was a Klingon K't'inga-class battle cruiser that was in service to the Klingon Imperial Fleet in the late 23rd century. This ship was commanded by Captain K'Temoc.

In 2290, the T'Ong was dispatched on a "crucial" long-range mission from the Klingon Empire, when the Federation and the Empire were still at war. Due to the long travel time involved, the T'Ong's crew was placed into cryogenic suspension for the journey.

In 2365, the cruiser was returning to the Empire, a cause of great concern to the Federation: the ship would be within striking distance of thirteen lightly-defended Federation colonies in the sector, including those in the Boradis system, manned by a crew of Klingons who would be unaware that the Klingon Empire and the Federation were no longer at war.

No Klingon ship being close enough, the USS Enterprise-D was dispatched to intercept the T'Ong, and Starbase 336 sent Special Emissary K'Ehleyr as an adviser. It was initially believed that the destruction of the T'Ong was unavoidable once the revived Klingons were confronted by their former adversary, but the T'Ong was saved when Lieutenant Worf masqueraded as the captain of the Enterprise and convinced K'Temoc that the Federation and the Klingon Empire were now at peace. Most of the footage of the T'Ong, with exception of the "phaser" attack, was recycled from Star Trek: The Motion Picture. The "war" referred to was most likely the Federation-Klingon cold war due to information revealed in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.
