The IKS Buruk was a Klingon Bird-of-Prey that was in service with the Klingon Defense Force in the mid-24th century.

In 2367, the Buruk transported Gowron to the Gamma Arigulon system to attend the Sonchi ceremony after Chancellor K'mpec's death. Later, the Rite of Succession was held aboard the USS Enterprise-D. (TNG: "Reunion")

The ship later decloaked near Deep Space 9's Upper Pylon 3, requesting to dock, following the Invasion of Cardassia in early 2372. There Gowron wished to speak with Worf, who boarded the vessel, and was wooed to join Gowron's cause. The ship later departed and thereafter Gowron joined General Martok aboard the flagship IKS Negh'var. (DS9: "The Way of the Warrior")

Late in the Dominion War, this ship arrived at Deep Space 9 from Qo'noS to induct General Martok into the Order of Kahless. Gowron brought along with him the finest barrel of bloodwine which had to be drunk that night to celebrate. (DS9: "When It Rains...")

Background information[]

According to the script for "Reunion", the pronunciation for Buruk was "BOO-ruk". [1]

While it was never stated either way, Memory Alpha assumes that the further apperances of Gowron's ship(s) in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine were intended to be the same vessel as the Buruk.

According to Star Trek: Star Charts (p. 65) and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library ("Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385"), there was a star system named Buruk, which might be the possible origin for the name of this starship, in the Beta Quadrant. The system's primary was an F-class star.
