In 2369, whilst an away team from the Enterprise-D was held hostage on Arkaria Base, a hypersonic burst was created by Dr Crusher. This was acheived by modifying the emitters of Commander La Forge's VISOR, whilst Commander Riker and Councellor Troi distracted the guards. The resulting pulse of high-pitched sound was of a high enough frequency to knock everyone in the room unconscious, apart from Commander Data. (TNG: "Starship Mine")
