A Hypergiant star is one which shares similar characteristics with a supergiant star, but is more then 100 times more massive then the Earth's sun. The theoretical lifespan of a Hypergiant is 1-2 million years. Supposedly, like it's supergiant companions, a Hypergiant star will go supernova when it exhausts it's supply of fuel and gravity crushes the inert remains.

The hotter the star, the higher in the spectrum the colour produced by a Hypergiant star. Blue and Red Hypergiant stars are the more common ones identified, rarer still, Yellow.

Since Hypergiant stars are so rare, there is very little information on them beyond what has been theoretically determined by scientists.
