When Leonard McCoy was transported back, Rodent was accosted by McCoy who demanded to know what year it was. He accidentally killed himself with McCoy's phaser. These ambitious scientists attempted to improve Humanity via eugenic practices such as genetic engineering and selective breeding in the late 20th century. In 2267, Doctor Leonard McCoy attributed the eugenics program to them, rather than all of Humanity, as Spock had. He described them as "Devoted to logic, completely unemotional" in an attempt to needle Spock, who McCoy also considered to be of the same ilk. (TOS: "Space Seed")
