A hotel was a facility offering temporary lodging to travelers or visitors to a location. A hotel room was normally equipped with a bed and a restroom. (TNG: "Time's Arrow, Part II") Communication devices, entertainment systems, and environmental controls were also part of more modern hotel rooms. (DS9: "It's Only a Paper Moon")

Customer service in a hotel was usually provided by the bell staff and coordinated by the concierge. (TNG: "The Royale", "Time's Arrow")

Many large hotels had meeting facilities available for various functions; some even had their own casinos inside. (TNG: "Time's Arrow"; DS9: "Badda-Bing, Badda-Bang")
