Henry Archer with his son, Jonathan |
Being the primary developer of the first warp engine capable of reaching warp five, Henry Archer was the father of Jonathan Archer and a good friend of Emory Erickson, inventor of the transporter on Earth. Henry developed the warp five engine at the Warp Five Complex as part of the NX program and also worked together with Zefram Cochrane. (ENT: "Broken Bow", "Daedalus")
Unfortunately, he spent the last two years of his life experiencing frequent pain and hallucinations, talking to people who weren't there, and often not even recognizing his son or wife due to advanced Clarke's Disease. Henry Archer died in 2124 before the first warp five engine was constructed, since the Vulcans had held back the engine's development program. (ENT: "Cold Station 12")
Twelve year old Jonathan was therefore left without a father. However, the relationship that he shared with Henry's friend, Emory, strengthened and the inventor became like a surrogate father to him. (ENT: "Daedalus")
- Henry Archer was played by actor Mark Moses.
