Hakton VII was the inhabited seventh planet in its star system. This system, located in the Demilitarized Zone, was home to a Federation colony. In 2370, three colonists were killed on Hakton VII by Cardassians, who claimed it was in response to the Maquis bombing of the Cardassian freighter Bok'Nor. (DS9: "The Maquis, Part II")

"RACK-ton" was the pronunciation for this planet's name from the script pronunciation guide. [1] However, according to StarTrek.com, the pronunciation for Hakton was "HAWK-tun". Presumably, the planet was M-class. [2]
According to Star Trek: Star Charts (p. 46, "United Federation of Planets I") and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library ("Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385"), the Hakton system was located in the Alpha Quadrant. The system's primary was a M-class star. Hakton VII was listed as a member planet of the Federation in 2378.
