Sir Guy of Gisbourne was the name of a character in Human mythology who was an enemy of Robin Hood in an area of England known as Sherwood Forest. Sir Guy of Gisbourne was the chief henchman for Prince John and held Maid Marian in Nottingham Castle while trying to convince her to marry him.
In 2367, the entity known as Q transported the senior officers of the USS Enterprise-D into a recreation of Sherwood Forest and the story of Robin Hood in an attempt to teach Captain Picard a lesson about love. During the reenactment, each of the officers played the part of one of the Merry Men. The role of Robin Hood was played by Picard, who had to choose whether to let Maid Marian (Vash) die or risk his crew's lives trying to rescue her from Sir Guy of Gisbourne.
Sir Guy was killed by Picard during a sword fight. (TNG: "Qpid")
