Baron Grimes was a 23rd century Human male baron. He was the father of Stella Grimes and the father-in-law of Harcourt Fenton Mudd.
By 2256, Grimes was an arms dealer who had made a fortune supplying weapons for the Federation-Klingon War. When Mudd left Stella, taking her dowry with him, Grimes issued a reward for his return. He later accompanied his daughter aboard his ship to a rendezvous with the USS Discovery, where Mudd had been apprehended. (DIS: "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad")
Grimes was played by Peter MacNeill.
The Netflix captions spell the character's name as "Baron Grimes", while the ones for CBS All Access and Space spell it as "Barron Grimes". StarTrek.com also spells the character's name as "Barron Grimes". [1]
Concept designer Ryan Dening (who designed Grimes' ship) noted, "Grimes was described to me as a Trump-like character." (Star Trek: Discovery Designing Starships, p. 107)
