Grimes was a Starfleet crewman that served as a relief conn officer aboard the USS Voyager under Captain Kathryn Janeway. Grimes became stranded in the Delta Quadrant along with the rest of the crew of Voyager in 2371.
In 2372, Grimes took Tom Paris' place at the conn when Paris was late for a duty shift. (VOY: "Lifesigns")
