Known as the Greeks, the people of Greece were known for their rich culture and ancient past. Respected individuals of ancient Greece wore crowns of laurel leaves. (TOS: "Who Mourns for Adonais?") The kithara was an ancient musical instrument played by the Greeks, as was the game of chess. (TOS: "Plato's Stepchildren")
History
During the 28th century BC, a group of highly sophisticated space travelers landed on Earth in Greece's Mediterranean region. These travelers appeared to the simple shepherds and tribesmen of early Greece to have been gods, due to their ability to alter their form at will and command great energy. These travelers established the period in Earth history known as the Golden Age, as well as the core of Greek mythology and philosophy. (TOS: "Who Mourns for Adonais?")
By the 5th century BC, the immortal Flint lived in the Greek region, where he personally knew the great philosopher Socrates. (TOS: "Requiem for Methuselah")
It was also around this time that another group of space travelers arrived on Earth, where they came to idolize the teachings of Plato. After the fall of the Greek civilization, they left Earth and established a new planet, Platonius, that they created for themselves, patterned after ancient Greece. These people would become known as the Platonians. (TOS: "Plato's Stepchildren")
In 2032, Greece took part in the Ares IV mission. (VOY: "One Small Step")
