The Great Wall of China is a structure that was built in China, beginning in the 3rd century BCE during the Qin Dynasty, to keep enemies out of that nation-state. Construction continued over the next two thousand years as the wall was extended, reinforced, and rebuilt until the Ming Dynasty years (approximately 1368 – 1644), and reached a length of over 6,000 kilometers.
