In physics, gravimetrics is the science concerning the measurements of gravity (or mass). In particular, it focuses on variations in gravity fields and the graviton subatomic particle.

Background

Gravimetrics is currently not an official branch of science. Neither is the word "gravimetrics" used as frequently in real life as it is in Star Trek. It is just a fine example of technobabble.
