The Gramilian sand pea is an edible seed that inhibits the salivary glands and dessicates the tongue, causing an immediate but subtle thirst. At Pel's suggestion, Quark started serving them as a bar snack in 2370 to make his customers buy more drinks. (DS9: "Rules of Acquisition")
Gamilian sand peas can also be eaten with yamok sauce. (DS9: "The Way of the Warrior")
