Gorath was a place located within Klingon territory.

There were sulfur lagoons at Gorath, and on the Day of Honor, a warrior must traverse them as part of the ritual. (VOY: "Day of Honor")

It was never revealed if Gorath was a planet or a place, but was most likely to be a place, as Moklor describes "the sulfur lagoons at Gorath".

According to the Star Trek: Star Charts, on page 61, Gorath was a planet in the Theta Hydrae system. This binary star system consisted of two B-type stars. Theta Hydrae was located in Klingon space, and this system was located in the Beta Quadrant.
