Thorne (born 20 January 1970; age 54) is a prolific science fiction author and screenwriter, who has written a number of short stories for the Star Trek anthologies and the novel Sword of Damocles. He also wrote an unproduced episode of TNG, The Rivals,[1] not to be confused with the similarly titled episode in DS9.

Thorne is also an actor and appeared in a regular role in the police procedural In the Heat of the Night during the 1990s. He also appeared in the likes of Diagnosis Murder, ER, Hill Street Blues and the film City of Angels.
